How does a 250hp 5.7 spin 5600rpm's??
My 7000lb tub has a 250hp 5.7 and 2.2 BII turning a 16.5" 21Pitch 3 blade Alum.........We had previuosly thought the tach was wacky but tested it today and it was spot on..That means this 5.7 turned that 21 5600 and showed me 45mph and kept pulling. For fear of an oily mess I pulled the reigns in...No **** 5600.35mph 4400 and layed the throttle down and trimmed her up..10-15 seconds later she was at 5600 and 45mph...WTFHolyF?

Sounds like its because of the 2.2 drive ratio to me,never heard of that ratio BUT I haven't worked on or studied bravo 2's either. Try a 23 pitch prop,Smitty

I wanna know how this little 5.7 didn't float the valves at that rpm...It is most definitly a 2.2 as per the side tag. That's a tall ass gear for sure.
It's wicked hard to find a used bravo II stainless for anything remotely reasonable..

It doesn't take a ton of spring pressure to turn up a smallblock. When I was young and didn't know better I put a crower street beast cam in a 1971 sbc with stock heads in my high school ride,it had fat duration and around .450 lift. It would spin past 6000 rpm's like nothing and once in a while would see 6800-7000 rpm's which bent pushrods and we had no clue why,we just changed them and ran it more ,Smitty
