Default Rigging Dual Batteries

Can anyone explain how to connect a dual battery set up with a switch. It is on a single outboard. Is it simply connecting the positives through the switch and then the grounds together. The boat currently has a single battery. Thanks

Default Re: Rigging Dual Batteries

It's very simple using a Perko or Cole Hersee type switch that has 4 positions... bat 1, bat2, both, and off.

Both + cables from the batteries go to corresponding battery lugs on the back of the switch and a separate + cable goes to the motor from a third lug on the back of the switch. Grounds go to ground same as always.
