What can you tell me about this small block?
My new Sutphen has twin small blocks that I know little about. The seller (second owner) told me the engines had not ever been apart, but there's enough aftermarket stuff going on to tell me otherwise. See pic.

From what I can see, as a NON-MECHANIC...
There's a little metal tag on the motor "Mercruiser 350 Magnum" with some 8 digit numbers. What is this about? Can't be from 1991?
There's an Edlebrock intake manifold.
There's a blue gasket below the manifold.
There's a 1.5" spacer betwee the carb and the intake manifold.
There's a Quadrajet Rochester carb.
What range of horspower should I be in if there's a medium cam in there?
Without opening up the motor, does all this speed equipment suggest I need to run top grade fuel?
Thoughts, comments welcome as I try to unravel this boats build...

Also, is the off-color patch on the GIL exhaust from overheating? Is that aluminum? Is this gonna be a problem running in the salt? Thanks

I run Gil aluminum headers in salt third year I had them apart saw no signs of corrosion seem to be just fine Gil says 10-12 years if flushed, though I run closed cooling I still faithfully flush. The engine questions can be answered by a good HiPerf shop, a dial indicator, a degree wheel and checking cylinder volume can give some pretty good answers. HP can be checked pretty close with a prop shaft dyno, they can more then likely give you an idea on the fuel requirements.
