Default 97 502/415 Cam Change

I am thinking of a cam change in my 502 mpi. already have the top end off for its 200 hr freshening up. However not enough room in front of the motor for the cam to slide out. Is there any magic to pulling the motor out? Is there a way to do it without needing to worry about alighnments on the reinstall? Any step by step info would be great guys...
Thanks..
