Small Block Cam question
Helping a friend put a new motor in my old boat.
He bought a GM crate engine rated at 330 hp w/ 9:1 comp.
The cam in it is 435/460 lift
212/222 duration at 50
LC are 109* atdc/ 116* btdc ex.
Is he gonna suck water in this SBC?
Thanks
Mark

Also he has stock type/aftermarket exhaust thru the hull. He needs to improve on that in the future but... it's his first boat.
Thanks

Re: Small Block Cam question
It's the 330hp vortec crate engine.
Many are running around with this and not having issues. Pretty mild cam.
I don't remember if the crate engine uses stainless headgaskets and brass freeze plugs. I would find out and make necessary changes if needed.

Re: Small Block Cam question
It has brass freeze plugs for sure. Is stainless head gaskets needed for a fresh water only boat?
Thanks for the reply!
