Default 496 heat exchanger flush?

Think I may have sucked some sand into the exchanger as my water temp is running a bit higher then normal. Water pressure is the same and oil temp seems normal as well..

What's the easy way to try and flush the exchanger only to see if that is my issue?

Before you look at flushing components. Get a scan tool and look at your raw water system pressure. If its low, check the raw water pump, they are usually the first to go bad and this can cause overheating. If you don't have access to a scan tool you can just check the raw water pump condition.

I agree with Raylar. If you sucked sand and are now experiencing some overheating, chances are your impeller got toasted a little by the sand induction. Another trick is to take the outgoing raw water hoses off the tank that go to the manifolds to see if some sand will ooze out. If not then probably it has flushed itself out.

To answer you question though you could also I guess with the exiting hoses off as stated above, place a water hose at the raw water input of the tank which is the elbow on the portside of the tank realative to the boat and flush freshwater thru it. You could also back flush water thru the feed hose to push out any possible sand stuck in the fuel and oil coolers.
