RPM Air-Gap compared to Performer RPM
I currently have a 496 with Edebrock heads, 290 runners with a Performer RPM sitting on top. I just purchased a Air-Gap.
Will I see any increase in performance??
They both are rated from 1,500 to 6,500.
Does anyone know how much taller the DART Oval port is?
I don't have alot of more room under the deck.
It doesnt take long to swamp them, is it worth the work?

Re: RPM Air-Gap compared to Performer RPM
Have you considered a Victor Jr? I use one on my 496. I was told by many that it was hard to beat a Victor Jr on an engine in the 500ci range. I used an Air-Gap on my mild 454 and thought it did great too. Maybe you are limited on space and the Victor Jr will not fit.....or maybe you have a lot of cam and don't want to sacrifice the low end that a single plane intake could take rob you of?? Just some thoughts. Good luck and let me know if I could be of any assistance.

Re: RPM Air-Gap compared to Performer RPM
If you have the exhaust crossover from the heads thru intake b;locked off and run a splash shield in the lifter galley, the Air Gap won't prove much, if any better than the RPM. Heat soak is the factor here, along with exhaust going from a port on one cyl bank to a port on the other cyl bank.
Once cams run 228 at .050" or bigger on modern camshafts and 9:1 or more BBC's the Dart Oval single plane will start to out muscle the others.
All generically said of course, just loose guidelines. Jot down all your specs in detail and we'll give you a better guestimate.

Re: RPM Air-Gap compared to Performer RPM
I went from a performer oval port on large oval port heads to a performer rpm air-gap there was no performance gain or loss on my set up but the bypass hose from the water pump to intake was not long enough to reach and the hoses from the water pump and sea water pump were a little too short so I had to make adjustments there also. The air-gap looks more cooler than the regular performer
