Help with motor build
I have a 86 Baja Force 220 with the 260hp 350
gonna bolt on Performer heads, 750 edelbrock carb w performer RPM manifold, EMI thunder exhaust. How much cam should I use?
CC XM-270 or
CC XM-276?

XM270.
I'm assuming you have stock shortblock with cast pistons and that you don't want to spin motor over 5200 or so rpms for days on end.
Make sure those RPM heads have correct valvesprings for the XM cam. 'Probably do' assuming will kick your butt.

Re: Help with motor build
I am not far from you I have built a few 350 mags and I have found hte only difference in the 260 to the 270 was the intake all internals were the same. My last 350 I built all my machine work was done by WastonRuppell Performance near Seneca Lake, but you are close to Shane Machine in New Phili/Dover area. I ran a bow-tie block, balanced assembly, forged pistons, dart cylinder heads ported and flowed, eldelbrock performer rpm intake and 750 carb. I also had a comp cam I can't remember the #'s but if you go over 295 duration you can get water back into your engine due to valve overlap with stock manifolds. I ran roller tip rockers crane the comp roller tips are a bad design because the oil shoots out the hole and hits the valve covers and has a hard time oiling the pivot ball and tip I saw that first hand not enough angle on the oil hole. I did switch my exhaust to a center rise manifold instead of the log type I ran thru-hull exhaust no mufflers and gained 5-7mph depending on conditions.

Re: Help with motor build
Yes the bottom end is stock. The whole topend is new sitting on my shelf. I just finally bought the exhaust, it is the EMI thunder setup with the 16" long risers. Just wasnt sure where I could go with the cam with the longer risers.

Re: Help with motor build
I am sure with aftermarket exhaust you can have more duration with the cam and there is a bunch from the canton area that comes down here on the ohio river and boats just wondering if you do I boat in the Pike island pool but up close to the New Cumberland dam part of it and around the islands stop and say hi i run a nova spyder "N'Mocean" one of my small blocks is in a 201 liberator "Aquahaulic"
