496 Mag SmartCraft Oil Temp Reading
I have a 2005 496 Mag Standard with a SmartCraft SC1000 central guage.
My Oil Temp always reads 32 degrees. Is this a standard engine reading and the sensor is not hooked up or is this a daisy chain add on sensor that need to buy?
Where would the Oil Temp sensor be on the 496 Mag? I looked through all the diagrams and couldnt find it.
Of course this is not a huge problem or issue, just curious and would like to get is resolved.
Any help or input would be great, Thanks

Ditto with Joe. They dont have an oil temp sender. If there is one in it it usually is installed by the dealer or boat builder and is not usually hooked up through smartcraft.

Re: 496 Mag SmartCraft Oil Temp Reading
The 496 does not have an oil temp sender available for input into Smartcraft. The 32 degrees is showing up because 0 deg. C is being sent to the gauges, and being converted to 32 deg F. You can turn that screen off in the calibration portion of the gauge.
