I used the Hi-Temp gasket material from Napa for over 8 years and no problems. Just cut a square out, lay it on top of the manifold, rub the plastic part of your screwdriver to make an impression on the gasket material and use a carpet knife to cut it out. I also used Red RTV when putting it together.

I'm sure the gaskets directly from Stainless would be best. If you can get them do it.

depending on the type of gasket material ( merc gaskets have a silver coating on them that does not like any sealer ) I like to use aviation permatex because it penetrates the gasket a little and makes for a great seal

The stainless marine manifolds I have leak MORE when I use the gaskets then when I just rtv them with high temp silicone rtv (on the tail pipe to riser). On the manifold to riser connection on mine I do use a gasket but the center divider gaskets are always burn't out between cylinders so I cut out the divider pieces so they won't get sucked into motor. Stainless marine needs to make some high quality gskts that are more duarble. As far as "losing a motor" no water passes thru any of their connections so are you maybe thinking it might leak so bad it will get cold engine compt air sucking back into motor and creating detonation or something,Smitty

A leakey gasket will/can cause reversion while the motor is running. I've seen this happen mostly on the Gil Manifolds and CMI's. Personally, I never had any problems with my SM's but I always RTV'ed it along with high-temp gasket material.

The Red Rtv Will Work Fine.if You Are Having A Problem With The Manifold To Riser Leaking Call Me This Should Not Happen And Will Cause Reversion

Hey Daryle

Tell brownie the jet boat risers came out mint. We fired it up Sunday afternoon & idle @ 1800 rpm for 30 minutes. Snapped the throttle a few times and shook the house & the neighbors came to "visit".
