Looking for a sbc 434 race motor.
Our UMP modified engine took a crap two weeks a go. It was supposed to be all good stuff, but turned out that the machine work was crap. Piston clearance was .009" pistons were out the hole by .014" which made .020 when you rocked the piston.
Piston broke on head, got 2 valves, lifter, cam and one bore.
If any has or knows a good deal on a sbc short block 434 preferably dart, let me know. Would prefer zero deck or .005 out max. Alcohol motor if that makes any diff.

Also wondering if camshaft repair is reliable way to go. Any thoughts or recommendations. One damaged lobe.

Demos Cams on the repair job. 706 367 2417 This is one of those guys that is a "best kept secret" type. He welds the stelite cams for the Cup teams. He can fix most lobes.

Re: Looking for a sbc 434 race motor.
Thanks Chris,
Bobs is on summer break for two weeks according to message.
Hate to buy a new cam with all the quality issues Ive been hearing about. Not really a dollar issue. We used to get them done years ago in a "spec" 4 cylinder motor class Never had any problems. But that was flat tappet, wasn't sure about solid roller.
Thanks for the good info.
