Re: who wants to lend me a 496ho scan tool
While I was digging around flushing the oil cooler (to make sure there were no pieces of water pump impeller stuck there) I did notice a "new" sensor in the oil cooler that I had not seen on any of my previous engines (mostly carbed and EFI 500's). Thought maybe that was for water pressure, but wasn't sure. When you say "open" I assume you mean "infinite" ohms, not "0" ohms, on the meter, right ? .... with engine running, or with engine off and no pressure? It would be rather hard to check with engine running, given the tight space to work in on my current boat. I will ask technician to make sure they check that sensor, tomorrow when they scan my 6.2 MX. One of my 500 EFI motors did this 2 beep syndrome and that motor doesn't have a water pressure sensor, just water temp, oil pressure (which is just an open/close switch), drive oil bottle (open/close switch), and low voltage for the alarm system ... unless the computer develops "issues". By the way, my 6.2 just hit 126 hours, the port motor has 128 hours and it is just fine ( for the moment, anyways )

I just ordered the Diacom software to do my own investigation. I should have tomorrow and will scan and report.

Re: who wants to lend me a 496ho scan tool
Still fighting alarms...Went out for 2hrs of solid running with no problems or alarms..then the 2 beep every 60 seconds came back, but this time when i went up to 4000 rpms the alarm went constant..Gauges all normal and no safe mode. thot i had it fixed when I cleaned connector on sensor at the seawater pump..apparently not. Anyone know what a new sensor costs? and it I take it to the shop for computer hookup will they be able to make a diagnosis if its not acting up? A new impeller was installed a couple weeks before this started..But I found all the pieces of the failed impeller and the pump was not scarred..Temp gauge never exceeds 175.
anyone? tnx
