My big questions is...are they qualified to make a decision ?

I know they sell new / reman engines, but are they ASE certified themselves ? I always thought they buy from other companies, not actually do any engine building ?

I'd look into this.

he swears up and down these are GM motors, from GM, he never even un crates them, only resells them, but will not allow an independent inspection, or a call to a GM represenative.

I VERY pointedly ask "Did you build these or did GM", he replied "GM Built these motors", but when I said get a factory rep to look at them, he shut down HARD and said "I will rebuild yours for a hell of a deal", meaning no warranty on engine, much less payment of accessories and labor cost as promised...

It is insane, it seems like such a simple thing to let a third party look at the evidence and do failure analyis, and make a determination. He STAUNCHLY refuses to accept any third party analysis.........

Call GM to see if they are an authorized reseller . Maybe they don't/can't get this investigated any further.

Just throwing it against the wall.

Has to be some reason they are unwilling to put just a little effort in this.

If he's claiming fuel in oil, the oil analysis is all that matters.

Remind him that once you have your expert fly to his county to testify and you win, he'll be the one paying for it- and your travel and your attorney's.

You can also get an expert in his county for much less- also an attorney.

Okay, here is what we are finding, Marine Engines (1800RUNSNEW) states they ARE Gm motors, from the SPO plant in brighton MI, but GM does not warranty motors, and he will have to warranty them himself. I questioned this EXTENSIVELY, but that is his story. I have requested a DOZEN times to get GM involved, he flatly refuses and I am not sure how to get them involved.

He claims:
•The carburetor dumped a copious amount of fuel into two cylinders in liquid form
•This caused dilution of the oil
•Which resulted in two rod bearings failing
•but not the other rod bearings
•that rod caps were burnt, but this could be seen until disassembly and would not show up in the pictures taken
•that the oil sample was from my lexus (I do not have a lexus)
•and I should pay him for ANOTHER motor
•and since my oil sample was fradulent the lack of burnt oil in the motor is not relevant

He states my oil sample was fradulent. I explained the boat was taken to a third party shop immedeately after the failure and has been their position since failure (very literally the shop owner was with me when it failed). I explained the shop owner took the samples, without me, the installer, or the seller present and sent to them to Stavely Services (NAPA lab) for analysis. He said he did not care about experts, he knows his schite, and that is all that matters, end of story.
