Default OSO Tech Line Opinion

Were these motors over fueled? Here is the deal, seller says they were over fueled resulting in dilution of oil which resulted in starving of bearings, despite no oil smell and engines running strong.

I need OSO opinions to know how to proceed. I think he is full of it, but if I am wrong I need to suck it up and move on.

Thanks...

If they are truly GM crate motors do they (seller) have final word with warranty ? I doubt it. Tell them to call there rep have have them take a look.

BTW: I had two 502's come in that where so fuel diluted (MPI's that repair facility never did oil changes but wrote down they did ) that the lifters collapsed but no bearing issues. Never seen such a thing in my life but I've never done this sort of practice either.

My honest 02 - but take this as it is since not there to truly inspect things - there is another issue other than fuel.

Again, being a video screen driver. Nothing else.

when running there was no black smoke, I think the motors could have used more fuel, but they were not running lean....

Hows about the bearings on 5/6 con rods weren't clearanced enough for marine use and they locked and spun. I would demand to see all the other rod and main bearings before letting them away with that excuse. Every other bearing better be wiped clean of babbit too or call BS.

If you paid for that motor by CC you should contact your CC company and dispute the charge. You will be amazed how "runsnew's" attitude will change when they are facing a chargeback and subsequent documentation of their so called warranty
