Default Water in bow but not in stern

After i bilge the stern is dry (during planning so i make sure all the water collects in the stern) but in the cuddy there's a small sewer grate and i can see water in there.

Why?

89 Baja 240.

the drain hole is probably not close enough to the hull/floor of the boat and all the water cant get out...or its cloged....

When sitting still in the rain, mine collects water near the bow. I ended up installing another bilge pump for that area, same as many larger boats have anyway.

It should be able to drain to the rear, however when the bulkheads are glassed in there are rough edges that can snag leaves etc.

Sounds like you could remove that grate and get in there with a wet/dry shop vac and dig around.

There is a small drain pipe going aft that easily gets clogged. If you remove the "screen" you can get to it and clean it out.

I had a boat that did that too. I used to suck the water out with a shop vac. The key was to not let water get in in the first place. It usually got in when the boat was not in use. Do you keep it covered?

Thanks Mats, i will do that next time i'm out. I'll post if it works.

Dave M, i stays covered and no leaks from the cuddy hatch. Sometimes i leave my ice bag over the drain and never worried cause i figured it would drain to the back.. but it's obviously clogged.
