Default Another leakdown question

I am hoping to do a leakdown test on my motor this weekend. If I want to do it without taking the valve covers off can I do the following:

Find TDC for cylinder #1 using harmonic balancer, check leakdown.

Rotate engine crank 45* and check cylinder #8

Rotate engine crank 45* and check cylinder #4

Etc, etc throughout the firing order.

I just pull the distributor cap. Then get the cylinder close to TDC according to the rotor position, and pressurize that cylinder. You will have to lock the crank to keep ity from turning if you pressurize to around 100psi. But if you use lower pressure, being a little off TDC wont cause the crank to turn.
