Minimum would be springs but with the life these 500HP style engines have you are best to pop the heads off and check out the valves and redo the valve seats. As time wears on the springs on these engines get weak and this allows the valve to bounce on the seat when it closes. This hammers the seat and you will see a power loss.
Its not a bad idea to put in a new set of lifters at this point.

IMO probably need a leak down test first and see how she is holding up. Seriously though, if your looking to rebuild, call Dean.

Whats nice about the efi's is you can get a print out of the engine's history from the computer. How many hours at what rpm. Knock run time, if any. Loads of info. I would ask for one of these for each engine.

Personally, I'd drop the boat off at Joey Griffin's in Washington, NC on your way home. Let him rebuild them and add some HP if you want. Joey is about as straightforward and honest as they come and his prices are more than reasonable.
Plus, if you need any work done on the boat (paint, FG, rigging) he can have it done in his shop. (they do it all there) Plus the boat is stored indoors while the motors are being done. Do a search on OSO for Joey Griffin - nothing but GOOD things are said about him.

Here is a copy of a report I had printed out on my hp500efi a couple years ago. I was trying to sell it so I thought I should have this ready.
