Default 525efi dead in 85 hours!

I figure might as well go for some more hp since it needs a tear down. Wondering if any one else has encountered this problem and also what kind of issues would i be running into with the stock injection, can the heads be flowed better, maybe make a 540? looking for 625hp. any advice appreciated!

The heads can be ported with great airflow gains. The problem is getting into the computer to change the map.

It would be nice to use the same heads so that the headers line up. Im thinking AZspeed and marine might be able to remap it ,but not sure if i will have to buy new injection.

What happened to it????????????????

Change out the 555 to mefi 4 so you can program it,that will usally cost about 1000 a day mapping it on the dyno, and prob need to be tuned on the lake with a AFR meter.$$$

Port the intake, heads, bump compression, could change cam or go with higher lift rocker like the stock 525 racers do

Whipple makes a kit to change over to the Mefi 3-4.

I know on a stock 525efi with a 3.3 Whipple kit on it It makes power to 6000rpm on the stock cam.The cam should be good if you could buz it.

I would be Leary of AZspeed and marine kit they sell, I have heard it tuff to cal,

Merc is the only one that can re-cal the (525efi)555 legally

JC Perf has tweeked on a 525'efi with a stock computer and made a little more power, but ????

You would obliviously make more power porting the heads stroking the motor and increasing the compression. You would want to port the intake also if going that route. It is important to use someone who really can port heads. The AZ software upgrade kit for the 525efi is fairly simple to use it is all windows based. They use a mefi4b controller. The key is having access to all of the features of their software and knowing how to build a fuel map. Having a start up program allows for less time on the dyno also. The pcm is not adjustable except for the few who have made bootleg versions. Thanks, Cam-shaft.

To my bad luck it has a spun main bearing. I basically sh****t my pants when i figured out what happen! Its looking like im gonna have to buy a new brain for the injection and probably different injectors. Maybe just rebuilding it stock is smarter, just a damn shame not to make alittle more power!
