I spoke to Dean today. He told me what to look for concerning wear. He also said if full hydrolic steering, merc HD gimble should be fine.
Monstaaa, would the full hydrolic make it reliable or is the merc still junk?

full hydaulic does in fact take away stress . how ever not all of it. the side loads on the helmut and the gimbal ring themselves is incredible. add to this significant increase in h.p torque, and a big prop, and the lateral load on the gimbal goes thrui the roof. this why a cat 32/ 36 is not as desireable with bravos. when added together failure is iminant. when usind say a b-max on a stock gimbal the situattion gets worse because the increased ability to with stand horse power with bigger gears and such, as well as more mass to the unit itself.

couple the max to its mate nad you now have a system, not an upgrade to a system.
