Yes the flapper itself can be replaced. Ironically we've only replaced a couple out of several thousand in service now. We've had these now for going on 5 years I believe.

The older style were not only noisy at idle but the shaft was too light (3/16) and several just broke the shaft off at the weld, particularly on motors with large cams. We've retrofitted a lot of the older No Burn Rex tips with the new Superflappers™. If anyone has older Rex tips with broken flappers we do upgrade them. Unfortunately other brands (still being sold) don't fit our fixturing due to the thinner tube so we can't put SF's in them.

We can also upgrade the real old ones (Rex brand) that had the butterfly type flapper.

Bob Z I will give you a call. Was out sick Friday which sux.

I guess I should have asked if I could buy the flappers
and install them in my tips to replace the originals?

I'd be more concerned about my exhaust than tips...

We have to install the flappers here as special fixturing is necessary to punch holes, locate, weld the bushings into the tips for the Superflappers™. I can only do this on Rex tips as mentioned above due to our thicker tubing. Thinner tubing type tips don't fit our fixturing properly.

rexone, I have your tips from late 80's early 90's can't quite remember but they are Rex. 4" to 3.5" slash cut stainless. The orginal flappers burned out after the first season. What's the cost of a retrofit? Any warranty if they blow out?

If they're from that era they could be Imco tips which are thinner rolled sheet metal meterial (rolled from flat stock and seam welded, not tubing).

We did not start manufacturing our own tips until roughly 1992. Measure the wall thickness. If it's .083 they're Rex tips. If it's around .065 they're Imco tips. If they are 3.5" tubing they're definately Imco's because we never built any 3.5" diameter other than reducing the 4" with reducers.

That's the first step to see if we can retrofit. Just let me know.

To answer your last question the new Superflappers™ are guaranteed for life. thanx
