Does anybody know if the coolant reservoir on a 496 or a 525 for that matter can be moved to a remote location?
If so is there a billet or cool looking unit, jug, or... available? Does it need to be mounted on top of or above the engines elevation for some particular reason?
I asked in another thread a while back about carbon fiber covers for the coolant reservoirs, but everyone thought I was on crack. They are coming on the 600's on up but are made it seems for the 525 style reservoir not the 496.
Will a 525 (i know they are different) work on a 496 with some modification? If I could do the 525 jug with the carbon fiber cover I could be happy with that.
After spending big money on an engine it just seems wrong to have to look at a ugly coolant jug, and those polished metal covers are well a flimsy attempt in my opinion...

Here is a picture of the engine, an older picture without some more upgrades, polishing, and powdercoating, but you get the idea.
It just ugly looking at the stock coolant reservoir.

Shoot a PM to ActiveShack. He bought some nice polished covers for his 525EFIs. Perhaps the same vendor has some for the 496.
You could probably bend some Aluminum diamond plate around it, have the corners welded, and powdercoated black for a unique look.

www.customcowlings.com They make covers for 496s,525s and 600s. Lots of neat caps also in different colors for your oil fill, drive reservoir and coolant tank.
