Default trim/tilt pump problems

just put new mercruiser trim and tilt pumps on boat. have speedmaster III drives. now drives wont move up and down while driving boat, only when boat is out of water. I was told the old pumps where kiekhaefer pumps and I put on mercruiser and they are not strong enough. Now I cant find any pumps or part numbers for the old pumps I had. any help please.

you may have the hydraulic lines reversed...one side is very weak compared to the other.....i would switch the lines and see if it helps...did you bleed the system completely? maybe you have air trapped in there...

Assuming that you have the Merc/Oildyne pump, remove the reservoir and loosen the locknuts on the two hexagonal (six sided) valves. Tighten them finger tight (counterclockwise) and retighten the locknuts, replace and refill the reservoir. That will be max pressure. If that doesn't work, you're screwed. You also need a 50 amp breaker in that line.
