I found fuel in the gear lube for the pump and replaced the fuel pump as a result. I don't know if they all do it or not, but fuel shouldn't be getting into that lube.

How do you go about loosening the belt for the raw water pump? Mine has v-belts and a tensioner, do you just loosen the nut on the tensioner until it slips off some? I felt around for an adjuster but couldn't get my big melon in front of the motor to get a better look

There's a tensioner / idler pulley for that belt. There's what appears to be a nut on a stud holding the idler pulley on. The stud has a small hex at the end. loosen the nut and the idler will "back off" and relieve belt tension. To tighten it back up, put a nut on the end of hte stud and turn it, you'll see it tighten up on the belt. Get it to a good spot and tighten the nut up to hold it there.
