TRS: Shimming lower unit?
I recently spoke with Danny at Typhoon Performance Marine. He suggested to not use the crush ring but, alternatively use another load washer and shim kit to set the rolling torque. This was how the early TR & TRS were assembled. Upon disassembly of the lower, I found when properly assembled, the crush ring is thinner than the load ring. This makes me believe that there is a thinner “load ring” that can be used. My Q’s are
1. Has any one done this?
2. What is the shim kit part number?
3. What is the other load ring part number?
4. What thickness of shims to start of with?
Thanks,
Jr.

Him and I were speeking about this a few days when i split the drives and checked out the pinions. In fact, all my parts are in to re-assemble. I was just curuius if any one has assembled it with out the crush ring. I will probably stop at the shop this week and put them back together, fill em up & grease um up. I plan on pulling the boat out of storage the first week of april. I want to be the first in the rack at the marina this year.............
