What type hull do I have?
1997 scarab 23 super compition series,is this a deep V or a step hull.I've read many, many post on the two hull types but still do not understand the difference.
Also,is this hull considered a "fast" hull in the 21 to 25 foot boat range? Sorry if this question sounds stupid as I'm fairly new at this and trying to learn all I can about my new boat.

Here is a pic of a twin step hull. Does your boat have a similar "step" or steps. If so it is a step hull. As for a fast hull, I've never heard Scarabs considered fast like a fountain or velocity, but "fast" is relative and I would think it's as good a hull as 90% of the boats in that size.

Every pic I found of a '97 23' Scarab SCS has no step.
If yours had a setp you'll find a notch in the hull about mid way back. Sort of like the photo above.
Your boat with a 502 MPI engine should hit about 70 MPH.

Thanks for the response everyone. Now I understand the difference seeing a photo of a step hull.
My boat is not a step hull obviously, now that I know what it is.
