To fit a XR upper into a standard Bravo transom you need the bearing with the red dot???Correct?Do all late model gimbles accept XR uppers? What needs to be changed? Thanks

the xr will bolt to any bravo gimbal as long as it has the correct (red dotted) gimbal bearing. the bearing is slightly thinner to give clearance for the larger U-joints of the Xr.

You can order the part (somewhere in the $50-100 range) and replace it with a gear puller. Usually a good idea to replace them every few years anyway. The XR gimbal bearing will fit into a regular bravo transom assembly. You'll have to beat the new one into place but only hit it along the outsides of the bearing....

or pay a merc. tech to do it!

You can put it in as long as you have the correct tool to do it. Or like stated swing into a repair shop and have them install it and then align it with a tool as well. You might want to also install the trim limit spacers in the trim rams as well to make sure the drive doesnt go to far up and hurt the u joints or bellows. Also make sure you have the oil transfer port in your bell housing.
