Default Dead Batteries-Can't Open Engine Hatch

Just bought a 2001 Eliminator 3000 Eagle XL. The battery switches and batteries are only accessible from the engine compartment. The batteries went dead and the engine hatch will not open to access the batteries. Any suggestions. Thanks!

If it has a shore power hook up and an onboard battery charger ...plug it in ...open sesame!

Take a booster pack and backfeed the system through the purple wire on the ign switch.

Hook up a charger to a lighter plug(radio shack) and plug in.
Or as Biggus said.

The battery switches are in the engine compartment?????? I guess they expect you to leave the hatch open whenever you switch off the switches. Be kinda hard to close the hatch with no power. Something seems fugged up.

Might also be able to just put 12V to your lift switch.

Got it open. I put the positive side of the battery charger after the fuse protecting that circuit and ran a jumper cable back to the anode on the drive and connected the negative cable of the battery charger to the jumper cable. The upper section of the rear seat velcros to the boat. When you remove the upper section of the starboard side of the seat there is a 8-9" access hole which you can easily reach the switch for that engine. However. it a good reach around the fire extinguishing system to reach the port side shut off. Thanks for the help!

I just put 12v to any terminal on the terminal block under the dash and the up switch works.
