Default Flywheel Housing Mounts

Anybody ever replaced the rubber bushing mounts in the flywheel housing? My merc dealer just called and said he couldn't do it and that I would have to buy a new housing.

I've gotten the kit from BAM already. I didn't have a press, so I took it to the local MERC dealer and two weeks later he calls and says they can't do it because they are scared they are going to mess it up. But they are willing to sell me a new on for $515.....how convenient. I will go buy a press if I have to. I just didn't know what I was doing and didn't want to screw it up.

A 10 ton or better press will get the out for you, I can't believe the dealer wouldn't do it for you. If they are stuborn just put some heat on them wiht a propane or mapp gas torch, it will smell nasty but they will come out. You could also just take it to any Napa auto parts and they will do it for you for about 20 bucks.

Thanks for the help, I am going to buy a press after work and try to get them out tonight. Will let everyone know how it goes tomorrow! I might be on here early morning looking for a new housing!

A little soap doesn't hurt but don't put any petrolium product on them or the will get soft and disintergrate over time.

Well, just like you guys said, There wasn't much to it. The hardest part was that the housing is awkward to work with in a press and helps if you you have someone to help hold things. I did not lube the new ones at all and they went in pretty easily. The dealer made it sound like this was a major undertaking. I think the whole process took 30 minutes. Thanks for the help everybody!
