Can any one help me!
I built a gen iv b/block chevy with 250 blower fresh water cooling and CMI E top headers and dry tail pipes last season.
I used the boat for approx 4 months with roughly seven hours running on the engine.
I started to notice sooty water leaking from tail pipe /header flanges.I removed tail pipes to find corrosion and pitting on tail pipe flnges and header flanges.I sent tail pipes back to cmi and they put me some new flanges on the tail pipes but have not seen this problem before. They suspect it could be electroylosis or corrsion caused by exhaust gases.
It does seem that i get alot of condensation in the tailpipes as water tickles out of them when the engine is turned off.
Both headers and tail pipes have been pressure tested for leaks from the water jackets but are ok.
Has any one come across a similar problem or have any ideas what could be causing the problem or how to fix it.
Could the water from the heat exchanger be cooling the headers to much?
Any help would be much appreciated.
P.S I live on the Island of Guernsey of the coast of UK.
