Engine Guru Help Needed
We Are Putting A 454 Merc Together What Is Clerance Betweenboth Connectingrods On The Same Journal?
Should Small End Of Rod Be Centered On Piston Pin?
And What Would Cause This, If It Was Offset?
If You Guru Wouldn't Mind A Phone Please Give Me Your Number I Will Have Machine Shop Guy Talk To You. Thanks

I shoot for minimum .010" ,prefer .020"between rods, the reason for the offset on wristpin is, whwn the pistons were installed on the rods (usually by heat) the rod cooled before it got centered or the installer did not measure the distance correctly. not the easiest job to do. never seen any problems with slight offset due to the fact the pin floats inside the piston, Sever offset would cause either the pin to contact the cylinder wall or rod would contact piston or both
