The EFI distributor I have doesn't have any markings on the cap- what's the terminal numbers? This is the later model distributor with a 4 prong and 2 prong connector going in the front.

What are you trying to do?
Locate TDC for #1 and Look at the rotor under the cap, provided the motor is in operable condition. Then mark each successive terminal in a clockwise motion starting with #1 then each is as follows 8436572.

1. Confirm you are on the compression stroke of #1 @TDC
2. Install distributor with rotor attached
3. Make sure the electrode on the rotor is pointing to the #1 cylinder or as close to it as you can get it, that will mean you will have to remove and install the distributor once or twice to get the ring gear to settle properly, and have the correct alignment on the rotor.
4. Install the cap and starting with the terminal that the rotor was pointing to install plug wire #1, then each cylinder therafter as indicated above in a clockwise direction.
5. Make sure the distributor is all the way down and you have'nt forgotten the fiber washer.
6. Install the distributor clamp and snug it up so you can just move it by hand.
7. Re-install your two connections, start motor.
8. Set distributor in service mode
9. Set timing to 10deg BTDC.
10. Tighten clamp
11. Return to normal operations.
