I am thinking about installing a closed coolingsystem on my 6.2MPI, because I am always running on salt and this engine is only being used for 55 hours on freshwater.
Can i buy an aftermarket or Mercruiser cooling kit and still use the Alpha drive impeller for feeding my heat exchanger?
I bought this engine out of a boat who was standing for about two years in a garden in open air, when I removed the risers from the manifold there was a little bit of water in the exhaust passage. The surfaces between them were ok, no signs of water on the plugs, could this be from condensation?

Richard, you are going to have a problem shifting, the 6.2 does not have a provision for shift interupt. Also the ECU has a differant program for closed cooling.

Yes I now about the shifting, some told me it would be no problem others tell me it would.
Mark at precission marine can maybe program an ecm (mefi3) with shift interrupt. Anyone a spare ECM? need to be the part# with ...999 in the end.
I dont think that the MEFI3 has a different program for the use of a closed cooling?
So I am going to try on an alpha with a bravo shift bracket and see what is going to happen. I was thinking about cutting the powerfeed to the injectors with a intterupt switch.
Mefi3 ecm's are not really cheap and you can't check them from the outside to see if they are in good shape.
