Default 496 HO oil drain tube problem.

I have the factory EZ oil change tube that runs from the drain pan on my HO, and out the bildge drain hole. I dont think the previous owners ever used the tube b/c they had a dip stick sucker. I cannot get the screw in end on the tube off. Can I cut it off and attach a new drain screw? What would you guys use that will still fit through the transom hole?

I have one of those rubber type drain plugs. So, the hose fits through.

Did you try using 2 wrenches to get the fitting off? You have to hold the tube end with 1 wrench and unscrew the the fitting with the other. I can't just unscrew the fitting without holding it with another wrench

Yeah i did.....the sucker is on there real tight. I almost rounded the corners off completely. I think I will just order myself a whole new kit for $50. The current rubber tube i have has seen better days. Just curious how easy it is to install a new tube with the motor in the boat?

It was great meeting you also. Other than getting caught in the rain every day, we had a great weekend. We should be out on Saturday.

Let me know if you change your mind on the oil change bucket. You are welcome to bring your stuff by my dock and get the oil changed right there. Not much of a job with the bucket.

Bill

LOL! My boat has REAL good access to the motor and it's still tough. I tried to install a tube on my old 454 still in the boat and gave up.

It was a very easy job on my 454.
