Drive indicator cable question.
Hey folks,
I have a 1988 Formula 311 SR-1. Does one have to buy a unique cable for the morse drive indicator cables? I have a pic of mine, and have no idea how to take off the black plastic spring-loaded rod.
Does oe have to buy the cable with this portion already in place? Or, is what I have removable? If so, how?
Thanks for your time-
QD

Those are standard moorse 33c cables.Just pull on the spring to shorten it up and you will see a black plastic c-clip hidding by the large nut at the top.Pull out the clip by hand and the spring assembly will slip right off.If you need a new cable the lenght is printed in inches right on the jacket.

What Nordic said....I just replaced mine this weekend. Teleflex/Morse 33c style cables are what you need. Once you remove the clip and take the tension off the spring, the black rod simply unscrews from the end of the cable rod. Disassembling the assembly on this end of the cable is the easy part. Doing the other end at the dash can be a little more frustrating....and removing and threading in the new cable can be fun also. Good luck!!
