Default Big Bore cam suggestions

I just built 2 new engines. Not happy with the cams.

Engine is a 582" 9.8 deck engine. 4.60 bore and 4.375 stroke.

Engines are 9.8:1 compresion. I don't really need them to spin over 5500. Looking to upgrade heads also.

I want to order heads to match the cam. Looking somewhere in the Dart Iron Eagle series.

Exhaust is Gil. Water enters system at the end so I can be pretty aggressive with the cam.

Transmision builders have told me to be careful with the idle. Supposedly the 72C doesn't like a rough idle or a lope.

Specs for custom grind or a part number would be fine. I would like a solid roller set up.

I would recommend JimV if you want hand ported Dart Iron Eagle 308's. He can also help you with the cam. My NA 505 ci engines make 650 HP @ 5500 and 750 Hp @ 6200 marinized with CMI E-tops.
I have done the research on having these ports and chamber digitized and developing a CNC program for the Dart 308 head.
I would be willing to participate in these development cost if you want to pursue two sets CNC IE iron heads. I have dyno tests that show these heads supporting 820+HP with 9.35 CR on pump gas. If this project is of interest, e-mail me.

You can use an off the shelf cam that will probably get you in the ball park, but if you really want a cam dialed in for your specs/needs call RMBuilder/Bob Madara of Marine Kinetics in N.Y (585) 654-8583. He will custom grind a cam specifically for YOU and your engine specs/application. He has done several successful marine offshore project cam apps for guys here on OSO. Have FUN!

By the way, depending on the size of the oval port heads you have they sound like they might be too small for a 582cid engine. Bob Madara can get you dialed in on some new heads too and match the cams to them and your whole combination.

I'll try him out. I have found that these heads are way small.

He is working on them now. Thanks for the hookup.
