454 Mag Help Needed
Well, in my other post I had posted that I thought I had ingested some water and bent a valve based on a quick diag. from the local marina. Last night I pulled all the plugs, and the engine would roll over just fine, and no moisture coming out the plug holes. I did a compression test, and all cylinders were within spec compression wise. So, I put the plugs back in, and the engine will not roll over, it just makes a quick stop/clunk, like the motor is ceased, which I know its not because it rolls freely without the plugs. The only thing I did notice is after trying to roll it a few times, I would get an electrical burn smell from the back of the motor, and a little billow of smoke from where the shaft comes out the back of the motor. I unhooked the batteries and felt around back there, and didnt see or feel anything exposed. Where do I go from here? Thansk in advance guys. I have a buyer on the hook and I need to get this thing running asap

it almost has to be in the starter sys. somewhere, I would say the starter it self, not enough torque to turn the engine over with the plugs in and is shorting out, hens the magic smoke.

Thats my thinking at this point that it has something to do with the starter shorting out and robbing the power, or even the solenoid staying running and over heating? Im guessing something electrical/shorting based on the smell and the little poof of smoke. Just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar for me to go by.
