Default Tach Problem

I just installed a new set of gauges over the winter. I also put in a new radio. Last week was the first time i took the boat out. The problem that i am having is the tach will peg out after it hits about 2500-3000 rpm's. I never checked the dial on back of the tach before i put it in and i don't remember where it was set at. Could this be my problem or could the radio be affecting it? The gauges are SS competition. Thanks in advance!
