Default Fuel Pump Relay Question

(Merc. 502 MPI) After spending a solid month searching for the reason my Port eng. was cutting out/ not starting etc. the fuel pump fianlly failed to come on when I turned the key on. Previously the pump was apparently only quitting after it got hot and would still come on long enough to pressurize the fuel rail even after it cut out while under way. Anyway, I checked the wires at the pump connector- good ground, no juice. I went back to the fuel pump relay- removed the top of the relay and there is juice coming into the 2 pink wires in the base but apparently not being transfered to the grey pump power wire when the relay is plugged in. Is there anything else I should check or does this sound like the relay itself has just gone bad?
