Default Dumb question here!

Getting ready to install 502's in the Fountain,(never done this in a boat), Not sure about the coupling plates, should I leave them a little loose to fit up on the Velvet trans spline, or tighten them. With the bolts drawn close I can fell about .020 of movment. Checked everything for fit and looks good.(bellhousing to trans, bellhousing to motor). Thanks for any help, cause to tighten the bolts later, I would have to go threw the starter hole, and that doesn't sound fun. 83 Fountain 502's, TRS, Velvet trans. Harry

You could do it either way, the down side to through the starter hole is if you break a bolt it will be less fun trying to get it out of the flywheel
