Alarm Question

Took the TG out this weekend and could hear a very slight noise/alarm coming from behind the dash. Not the standard temp/oil press/drive oil alarm. Almost sounds like a bird chirping. Can barely hear it but it's bothering me not knowing what the hell it is. And it is constant - doesn't change with RPM. All fluids are topped off and water temp and oil press are all good. Haven't had time to investigate as of yet so just trying to get some ideas. I even thought the GPS might have some sort of alarm built in (Garmin 192) but just don't know. I thought someone started a thread about something like this a while back. Ran a search but couldn't find. Anyone ever heard of such?

Thanks Jim. It's a former race boat so no depth finder and it doesn't have a CO monitor that I'm aware of. Like I said, hopefully tear into it Saturday afternoon and gather some more info. The standard oil press/temp/drive oil alarms do work when the ignition switches are turned to the run position so i know it isn't them.

buddy had the exact same problem on his for last couple yrs. Real faint, yet annoying buzz. We traced it down to his wires for the over temp sender and water temp senders got swapped by accident. Both his senders are side by side. His temp gauge never registered during this time since it was looking for a variable reisitance, not the open /close signal it was being feed. Usually didn't start buzzing until after the motor was ran a few minutes to build up some heat causing the sender to start registering. Just enough to trigger the alarm ever so slightly since the problem sender was variable resistance (normal temp sender) vs the correct 'open/close' sender for the alarm.
If it is a carbed motor, the alarm will still sound at startup do to the self test even if these wires are switched by mistake. This just test the alarm buzzer itself.
What motors?
Just a thought to check into.

Donald, had a similar problem. Disconnect the oil pressure, water temp, drive oil buzzer for both motors and listen again to make sure it is not the standard old warning buzzer. If the sound goes away reconnect one at a time. The warning buzzer goes off when it is grounded by one of the sensors so all it takes is an intermittent ground to make a faint sound. I ended up replacing one of the oil pressure sensors that was allowing the buzzer to ground.
Hope you and yours are doing well.

Hey Tom! Good to hear from you. That could be the issue also. I think between you and US1 you may have given me the ammo I need. When I get home from the shop Saturday I'm going to tear into it.
Just did Charlie's Mardi gras parade last weekend. Whew!!! If that's a precursor to the Tickfaw 200 this year, it's gonna be a long weekend!!!
