Another A/C question
Has anybody used the Mermaid condensator on the evaporator drainpan for water run off instead of draining into the bilge? or is it not necessary in a "go fast" boat . My original A/C drained into the bilge. ---Update, to those interested- I bought a 10k btu a/c unit from an OSO member (to replace my 7k 220v unit in the boat), a new Passport I/O (to replace the Passport II),a Dometic "hard start" kit (so it will run on my Honda EU2000i- I hope),two fireboy-xintex cmd-4mr co detectors (went with them because I saw one in a 47 Fountain at the LA bot show)- So I hope I am good to go.Mike

Yes, I have used one for 7 years, works great! Can get pluged up with dirt so keep your pan vacumed clean before install. Does have a slight sucking or gurgeling noise, which to me is better than water in the bilge! Ken

Installed one last winter and wouldn't go w/o one. No problems last summer and it is used every weekend. I don't want no water in the hull of my boat. Which pump do you have? Mermaid doesn't recommend the less inexpensive 'Teel' to be used with the condensator do to it creating more restriction. Not enough water flow through the coil, and the AC won't work good. Then alot does depend on the hose run length.
