Pressure test oil cooler
I have pressure tested my oil cooler to 80 pounds of air......My question is what is acceptable leak down amount......It has lost ten pounds in two days......One side is a schrader valve and other is a gauge....

Leak down is an odd way to test your cooler. If it were a cooler I was scrutinizing I would submerge it in water, pressurize it and watch for any sign of air bubbles. If found, replace the cooler. There should be no leakage.

I did that already......It is not a leak down test..... the question is what is a acceptable amount of air loss through fittings........I need input from someone who has done oil cooler testing....

I was hoping you would chime in wobble.....It is weird i threw the whole thing in my hot tub and not a bubble, but after two days it has lost ten pounds of air, i think it is pushing through the threads real slow...I hate to risk it though....

actually, soapy water may show a leak that you might otherwise not see, that includes the gauge
