Does Merc specify a tourqe rating on thru transom Gimble studs?

55 ft/lbs

i was told 30ft.lbs seems light

Unless you wanna break your inner transom plate and yes they will break if over tighted. been there done that and its not cheap..

It's also specified to use a "criss-cross tightening pattern". I'd gradually pull them down before torquing.
