454 mag, modified to 700 hp
crankcase mobil 1, 15-50 synthetic............25 hr intervals
bravo 1 merc high performance +, green....50 hr intervals
blower mobil fully synthetic 75/90..............25 hr intervals

engine taken down this winter by Twister engines after 2000 hrs.
Gary inspected, and commented re maintenece, no oil related mechanical failure, no heat problems, engine just "tired".
engine block to go .030 over (first time) new cam and valve train.

same lubricants and intervals to be used in new set-up based on history of old.

merlin 632 natural; 901hp

crankcase; Mobil 1 15w50 synthetic, 15 hrs
Bravo1; Redline 75w90, 25 hrs; or merc

I have been running B&M trick shift in my boats transmision and noticed a BIG difference with it.

29' Nordic w/525 SC---Redline 20-50 synthetic
Bravo 1---Redline shock proof heavy

18' Hallet v-drive w/392 blown chry hemi----Redline 20-50 synthetic
V-drive---Redline shock proof heavy

Bonneville Saltflat race car---
540-572-632 cu in unblown injected marine big block w/500 hp variable NOS sys.---Redline 50 wt Racing synthetic.
Liberity air shifted trans---Redline synthetic ATF.
Chev 12 bolt rear end w/posi--- 90 wt hypoid gear oil (Synthetic gear oil caused loading/unloading of clutch pack at speed)
Car (98 Trans Am) holds 5 world land speed records pending class/engine size. Records vary from 244 MPH to 295 Mph.

Engines are built very similar to off shore marine engines except for cam, valves and compression. Engines pull WOT for 7 to 8 miles (7100-7400 rpm) pending salt conditions with 5 or 6 miles for shut down

Kaamacat,

I ran the Hi-perf Merc stuff in my Kaama's and never had a problem. I have some Kaama docs somewhere that says 90 wt. gear oil.

Katdrvr...........question. Do you remember what you ran in the transmission?....also, what are you runnin in the ChrisCat engines now?
