How often does everyone change seawater impellors...every season?.....every other season?...I change mine annually, but I have friends that say that it is not necessary to change them each season...??????

I replace them every spring...housing and impeller. A buddy will pull his housing off and take the impeller out to leave un-bound for the winter then re-use it for a second year.

Every spring when I do all fluids. I had one engine out last month and just checking one water pump (had been changed 7 months ago) and found a blade had broken off and another cracked. If I have one engine out for some reason, I go ahead and change both water pumps then because its easier to get to. As expensive everything else is it is cheap insurance.

Every other season. My most recent one had 120 hours on it and looked like new but it is worth the piece of mind.

The first time I changed my Alpha impeller on my 1979 228 was in 2002. It still worked fine but the temp was starting to wander. So they can last a long time. I am sure newer ones won't last as long. Now I change my Bravo one every 2-3 years.

I always get 2 yrs out of mine. 1 yr and still look good. 3 yrs ends up replacing one on the water. (twice now)
Just replaced them again last week for the 2 yr change. 1 missing vane, 1 was 1/2 tore.
