Default Low Idle in neutral/ 525SC

Question, What is the best way to increase the idle speed in neutral. Both motors are idling around 650 in neutral, they should be around 800. please advise. thanks in advance. Scott

each carb has 2 idle screws, primary & secondary, give each screw the same amount of adj. I would start with about a 1/4 turn each, with that being said, there is a long list of how to adj the 1050 from scratch, I suggest doing a search for this information, you carbs also have 4 corner idle fuel adjustment, they may also need to adj. but if it's idling good and just low, do the 1/4 turn first, you should be fine.

What about just ajusting the idle using the throttle cable?

The best money I ever spent on my 525sc's was getting the carb's rebuilt.

If you use the throttle cable to adjust your idle, you'll have a very inconsistent idle plus you may be holding the throttle plates open too far, taking the carb off the idle circuit. You won't get the fine tuning that you can with the carb itself. Best to use the idle stop screws and as was stated above, possibly adjust the idle mixture as well. When you return your throttles to idle the carb linkage should be resting on the idle stop screw.

First thing to do is give the idle speed screw a half turn or so. I would do that before playing with any of the mixture screws. No reason to adjust the throttle cable. I had mine set to idle at about 850 in neutral and 700 in gear.
