oil drain
the threads are not what leak!! it is the spring loaded fitting!! also the rubber line that they use is very small!! too small!! it takes for ever for 40- 50-wt oil to drain!! good idea!! bad design!!!

I have the Merc drain hose on my HP500 as does Brian on his 500EFI. Niether of us have had problems with the hose or fitting leaking.
Willy, it does take a while to drain but if you warm up the motor prior to draining it helps make the process quicker. Plus you'll get a more complete drain. When the oil is warm it has the impurities in suspension. So they will drain out with the oil.
The Merc hose we have does'nt have any type of spring on it. Just the bung on the motor end of the hose with the bolt and two rubber gaskets.
