does the 496 use a different filter number?..i am having problems finding listings for that engine?

The Amsoil / Donaldson is an EA076. I've been running them for a couple of years, I also attach a high strength magnet to the bottom. My oil pressure stays constant before and after changes. My oil is so clean that I can hardly see it on the dipstick. You get the best of both worlds, high flow and superior filtration.

Try the Wix 51794R it is the High performance RACING version rated at 28 gallons per minute.

High performance version of 51794.

Just remember that the "R" on racing filters stands for Reduced Filtration.
