I upgraded to a ram billet flywheel when I built up my 540 to 945 hp 3 years ago, they are available in 33lb,26lb and 17 lb,no problems and I'm running 1057hp currently. Around 200$,Smitty

The reasoning behind all of this is based on doodle math. A rough formula indicates the 40# flywheel should work for the application.
The specs include a close loop EFI,intercooler,supercharged,565 cu.In. w/4.375 crank. The dyno should compare idle torque and etc., while the electronics should compare A/F, temperature, balance and etc. We will also "listen" with a spectrum analyzer. Again, the comparison will be between 27,35 and 40# flywheels.
Ben,thanks for the kudo...I remember the age of 5yrs....I took my dads new Shop Smith apart to learn more about all those belts and pulley's....couldn't sit down for a month.
Chris,thanks for the support.
Smitty,do you recall any other details about your flywheel ? Did you check it for balance? Have you seen any notable change in the drive plate?

As far as balance on my flywheel my motor is internally balanced so I ordered the flywheel neutral balanced. I sent it in when everything was balanced and if they had to do anything to make it zero it wasn't noticeable. I'm using the merc hp 575 style long snout drive coupler, not really a drive plate but its held up well. I did use a drive button with a direct drive shaft when I tried a stellings box but was nothing out of the oardinary,Smitty
