Mercury Optimax

Amsoil Sabre Outboard is outstanding.

I use to run Klotz R-50 in my Merc outboard. My brother still runs it in his. Always had good luck with it.

I asked the same question on Scream and Fly when I bought my 2.5's (280 ROS). They all agreed that the pennzoil 100% synthetic is the best oil for the price.

Penzoil Syn has a Flashpoint of 214*F. It's interesting it's that low. It may be good for a more rapid combustion but most syn 2-cycle oils have an FP of 150*F....the high the FP usually the better the basetock.

Personally in the case of 2-cycle oils I like the Amsoil and Redline products. But I might be swayed to use Merc's Optimax semi-syn as it is a real good product.

I run Klotz bean oil in my 260...would not run anything else. It smells great and the motors look great upon teardown.

Thanks all for your response. I have to opt for Mercury optimax oil, cause there are no agents for Penzoil, klotz and Amsoil. but there is an agent for lucas oil do they have a good product for this motor

Lucas Semi-Syn 2-cycle High Performance TW-3 rated oil is good for your application.

It's flashpoint of 143*F indicates it has a real good basestock and will burn well also.

Merc Optimax is a real good choice even if other choices existed.
